ABC Directory (deprecated)
ABC Directory was an early directory-focused HumHub module concept for structured listings and spaces. It is now deprecated, and new projects should use ABC Categories as the cleaner, more flexible foundation for categorized directory structures.
ABC Directory was originally developed as an early ABC Suite module for building structured directory-style platforms inside HumHub. Its purpose was to support organized listings, categorized spaces, directory cards, and scalable presentation of many organizations, services, or community entries.
During development, the architecture was refined and the directory logic was separated into more reusable building blocks. As a result, ABC Directory is now deprecated in favor of ABC Categories, which provides a cleaner and more flexible category foundation for future directory-related features.
New installations and new ABC Suite projects should use ABC Categories instead of ABC Directory. ABC Categories is designed to support reusable classification across multiple modules, including listings, spaces, maps, events, badges, advertisements, and future directory extensions.
ABC Directory may still appear in older development references, prototypes, or legacy installations, but it should no longer be treated as the preferred module for new work. The goal is to avoid duplicated logic and move toward a more modular ABC Suite structure where category management is handled centrally.
For long-term maintainability, compatibility, and scalability, ABC Categories is the recommended replacement.
